Der 13-jährige Arbor und Swift sind beste Freunde. Die beiden Außenseiter fliegen von der Schule und treffen auf den Schrotthändler Kitten. Sie machen die Drecksarbeit für Kitten, um sich damit etwas Geld zu verdienen. Die beiden sammeln für ihn Metallteile, klauen Kabel und sind dabei in einer Pferdekutsche unterwegs. Swift kann mit Pferden gut umgehen, während Arbor Kitten immer mehr nacheifert und ihn mit seinen Taten beeindrucken will. Arbor muss jedoch feststellen, dass Kitten Swifty bevorzugt. Arbor bleibt verletzt und isoliert zurück. Dies alles gipfelt schließlich in einem tragischen Ereignis.
